Our free NCEA Study Planner template is back for 2025.

Scope out your exam dates, work backwards to figure out how much time you've got to work with, and set yourself up for success.

For best results, stick it on the fridge so your family members can keep you accountable!

Below is a sample Study Planner (made for one of our students), along with the template for you to fill in yourself.

How to use our Study Planner...

Step #1

Insert your school term dates, exam dates, and other commitments.

Social commitments, sports practices, work - everything goes in the Study Planner.

NCEA exam dates can be found on the official NZQA calendar, here.

Step #2

Block out time for study.

Using your exam dates and other commitments, work backwards to block out time for study.

Be realistic. Don't overstretch yourself.

Some tips:

  • Be strategic. If your Economics exam is at the end of the exam block, prioritise studying your other papers first.

  • Block out days to 'chill' or 'rest'. If things don't go to plan, you can always use a 'rest' day to catch up on some study.

Step #3

Onto the fridge it goes.

Use peer accountability (from parents/siblings) to hold you to your Study Planner.

Remember - the Study Planner is a moving document. As you get nearer to your exams, you'll build a better understanding of what papers you should be prioritising over others. That is totally fine. Check your Planner every day and update it as needed.

Best of luck!

We believe in you.
